OUR FIRM HISTORY
Unlike other law firms that profess their commitment to injured workers:
- LIVINGSTON DIMARZIO BROWN, LLP is a “union shop”. All of our employees are proud members of a labor union. They work under a collective bargaining agreement with benefits, a pension plan, and job protection;
- We pioneer new case law in the courts by drawing on our experience and innovation. This helps us obtain the best results for our clients under current existing law;
- We Continually support the passage of new workers compensation legislation to change the law for the benefit of injured workers.
Our Story
Since 1972, long-time friends and founding partners Craig H. Livingston and Frank DiMarzio have represented Local 736 of the United Auto Workers at the New Departure Division of General Motors. When UAW Local 736 was faced with a plant closing, the hourly and salaried employees utilized an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) to save their jobs at General Motors. After orchestrating the ESOP at Hyatt-Clark Bearings, Craig Livingston went on to organize 15 other ESOP leveraged buyouts – all designed to save union jobs and troubled American industries. Many of these companies have survived to this very day and are flourishing in the world economy of the 21st century.
The Workplace Lawyers have represented other Locals and International Unions over the last 40 years. This includes the IUE/CWA workers, United Steelworkers, Chemical Workers and the New Jersey State Council of Machinists.
NJ COSH
In 2003, Mr. Livingston was one of the founders of the New Jersey Committee on Safety and Health (NJ COSH). NJ COSH is a professional organization of lawyers and doctors who practice in the field of Workers Compensation. Since its inception, NJ COSH has worked on multiple pieces of pro-worker legislation which have been enacted into law. Today Frank DiMarzio serves as Vice President of COSH.
Since the creation of COSH there have been no legislative takeaways from injured workers under New Jersey’s workers compensation system.
In 1990 Lynne P. Kramer, Esq. joined the firm and became our managing partner. Since 2006, Ms. Kramer has been Of Counsel Emeritus to the firm. She continues to handle many of the most difficult and complex arbitrations that our valued labor union clients face. Her vast knowledge and experience continue to be one of the firm’s most vital resources.
In 2009, Craig H. Livingston became a Board Certified Workers Compensation Law Attorney.
